Privacy Policy

The short version

• No ad networks and no third-party advertising trackers.
• We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising.
• We do not collect your name. We hold an email address only if you subscribe to the Daily Brief.
• We store hashed values, not your raw IP address or your raw session identifier, in our analytics and click records.

Cookies we set

We set two first-party cookies. Both are HttpOnly, so scripts on the page cannot read them.

• Session cookie (ed_sid). A random identifier kept for 30 days. It links the pages you view into one visit in our own analytics and lets a click on a deal be matched to the pages before it.
• Source cookie (ed_src). Set only when you arrive through a link that names a channel (for example a link from X or a newsletter). It records that channel, is signed so it cannot be forged, and lasts 7 days. We use it to attribute Amazon affiliate credit to the right channel.

Neither cookie is used for third-party ad targeting. Your browser also keeps a random visitor id and your saved-deal list in local storage (see Saved deals and saved searches below).

Page-view analytics

A first-party script on the site reports to our own server which pages and deals you view and which deal cards were shown on a page. Each record contains:

• the event type (page view, deal view, or deal cards shown), the time, and the page path with the query string removed;
• a keyed hash of your session cookie and a keyed hash of your IP address (the raw values are not stored);
• your country, taken from the header Cloudflare adds to the request, and a device type (such as desktop or mobile) derived from your browser;
• the channel from your source cookie, if any, and a traffic-source category (such as search, social or direct) derived from the referring site;
• which deal, category and position on the page were involved.

Requests we identify as known bots are dropped. Individual event records are deleted after 90 days; only daily totals are kept after that. This data is not sent to a third-party analytics network.

Click tracking

Deal buttons go through /api/click/ on our own server before sending you to Amazon. For each click we record the deal, the time, a keyed hash of your IP address, your browser user agent string, the referring page, the page the click came from, a hashed session identifier, the attribution channel and the affiliate tag used. We keep click records for 180 days, longer where a record is flagged as part of a traffic-quality review. We use them to count clicks, filter out automated traffic and reconcile our affiliate statements.

Daily Brief email

If you subscribe, we store your email address, the time you signed up, which form you used, and whether you are still subscribed. We use it only to send the Daily Brief and a welcome message. Messages are sent through Elite Fusion's own transactional email service, and each one carries a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops all further email. We do not sell or rent the list.

Saved deals and saved searches

• Saved deals. Your browser keeps the list in local storage. When you save a deal we also store its id, the list name and the price at the time of saving on our server, tied to a random visitor id generated in your browser. There is no account.
• Saved searches. We store the rule you create (for example a keyword, category or maximum price) against the same random visitor id, and check it hourly. Matches are shown on the Saved searches page. Nothing is emailed, and the form does not ask for an email address.

Clearing your browser's site data removes your visitor id and local list, which disconnects you from the server-side copies. To have them deleted, write to the address under Your choices.

Amazon and affiliate links

Elite Deals is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you click through to Amazon, Amazon sets its own cookies and applies its own privacy policy to what happens there. Those cookies are how a qualifying purchase is credited to us. We do not control them and do not receive your Amazon account or purchase details. See our affiliate disclosure.

Cloudflare

The site is served through Cloudflare, which acts as our content delivery network and security layer. Requests to elite.deals pass through Cloudflare, which processes them under its own privacy policy and may provide us aggregate traffic statistics through Cloudflare Web Analytics.

Images and external links

Product images load directly from Amazon's image servers, so Amazon receives a request from your browser when they load. Links to other sites, such as our X account, are governed by those sites' policies.

Your choices

• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works; visit and click measurement becomes less complete.
• Unsubscribe from email with the link in any message.
• To ask what we hold about a visitor id or email address, or to have it deleted, email [email protected]. Hashed analytics records cannot be traced back to you, so we may not be able to find them.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

When our practices change, we update this page and its date. See also our terms of service and contact page.
